University of Beer owners planning new business, Shipwrecked Tiki Bar, in Davis

The owners of local restaurant and bar chain University of Beer are adding a new tiki bar concept to their business portfolio. Nate Yungvanitsait , who owns University of Beer with his wife, Melissa, said the two are planning to turn a 2,350-square-foot space at 217 G St. in downtown Davis into a themed bar called Shipwrecked Tiki Bar, which will specialize in premium rum drinks. The building, as well as an adjacent space that has since been partitioned off, was last occupied by Woodstock’s Pizza, which relocated to a new space a few hundred feet north in December. Yungvanitsait said the tiki bar will have a full liquor license and will carry an assortment of craft rums. The bar will not offer food. "This is a pet project for us," Yungvanitsait said. "We have multiple University of Beer locations and they are all the same in terms of operations. This concept will allow us to get more creative with decorations."
