It is human nature to try to seek short cuts. However technology cannot solve issues that are fundamentally human in their nature. For all the current mad scramble for all things-AI, strategy, structure, culture and working practices must first be put in place for “Digital Transformation” to succeed, otherwise what are we transforming from and to … and why? We have identified six critical success factors (which happily all begin with P) … and argue that this is not about Digital Transformation at all. This is good old fashioned change management, accelerated by the possibilities of the digital age. It is tempting to see Platforms as potential silver bullets but without Planning, Process, Policy, Practices and People you risk spending a lot of time (and money) chasing a dream.
