Feb. 10—Opportunity House has hired its first chief people and culture officer, the organization announced Friday. Dori Bornstein will be the first person to hold that title in the organization, the Reading-based nonprofit said in a press release. She will be responsible for leading human resources, employee engagement, workforce planning and performance management, which is an integral role for a diverse organization like Opportunity House, officials said. Opportunity House operates a homeless shelter and supportive housing in Reading, the Second Street Learning Center day care and OppShop, its retail thrift store. Bornstein, who lives in Berks County, last worked as director of human resources at the YMCA of Reading and Berks County. Her previous roles included being the general manager of Telecommunications on Demand, a family owned company in Pottsville, and the operations development administrator for Highmark in Camp Hill. "I was attracted to the mission of Opportunity House and to work with an organization that supports our vulnerable populations and providing access to high-quality early childhood education.
