Andri Koolme / CC Northern Bruce Peninsula council is going to consider supporting the creation of an updated digital transformation strategy to improve ways they provide services to local communities. Set to come to council on March 27 from GIS and IT Manager Kara Smith, a report recommends supporting the creation of an updated strategy. The report says in 2019, the municipality received modernization funding from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in recognition small and rural municipalities have limited capacity to plan, modernize and improve the way they provide services to their communities. When Northern Bruce Peninsula received this funding, a report was prepared to guide its modernization efforts and use of the funding. The objective was to create administrative efficiencies, modernize processes, achieve cost savings, and improve levels of service. The municipality received 30 recommendations, and of the 30, 21 have been completed, two are in progress, two are scheduled for this year, and five need additional discussion. With the majority of the recommendations having been completed, the report says it is time to update the report and ensure the municipality continues to stay current with technology.
