New Albany International Business Park could expand yet again if the city approves a rezoning request from its most prominent developer. MBJ Holdings LLC, an affiliate of the New Albany Co., is requesting to rezone 196 acres from agricultural to limited general employment (L-GE). The site, which consists of eight parcels on the west side of Beech Road, is in the process of being annexed into the city from Jersey Township. The annexation petition was submitted Dec. 30, and is scheduled for a first reading at a New Albany City Council meeting on March 7. If approved, the property would be known as the Northeast Business Park Zoning District. The proposed rezoning serves as an expansion of New Albany International Business Park, according to city documents. The site is today home to farm fields and residential homes, according to city documents, which list the addresses as 3711, 3555, 3525, 3287 and 3453 Beech Road NW. Three other parcels do not have an address. Rezoning the site to L-GE would limit the type of uses on the property.
