How Healthcare’s Digital Transformation Could Help Fix the Labor Shortage

And just as troubling for those C-suite executives was a shortage of available talent. Seventy-one percent of respondents said labor shortages were a top threat to the healthcare industry. There’s cause to be concerned. The federal government’s Health Resources and Services Administration projects that by 2025 the United States will be short almost 79,000 registered nurses and more than 57,000 physicians. Those projections are modeled on historical patterns of attrition that may not hold true in the era of “quiet quitting,” burnout and lingering effects of the peak years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
