(WHAM) – Local business leaders are encouraging entrepreneurs and business owners in Rochester. They formed the group Franchise ROC in 2022, to help others learn how to begin or grow a business. They held their third event Tuesday night at the Prayer House Church of God by Faith on Cumberland Street, to share their personal experiences, while inspiring and empowering future business owners. "We’re trying to change the narrative from poverty to prosperity and so we’re trying to make the community informed that there are other ways to open a business and you don’t have to reinvent the wheel," said Angela LaVecchia, one of the founders of Franchise ROC. "There’s hundreds of different types of franchises that people aren’t even aware of, from owning pet resorts to maid services to tree services, flooring, so many different types of franchises," said Rochester City Councilman at large Willie Lightfoot, who also helped found the group. "We want to introduce people to those different opportunities." More information about the group’s mission can be found on their Facebook page.
