Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo Ghana took a major step toward a digitally inclusive future this weekend by launching 5G technology. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, speaking to a gathering of industry stakeholders, stressed the potential of 5G to propel Ghana’s aspiration to become a digital economy hub. "This technology is more than just faster internet," President Akufo-Addo said, emphasising 5G’s potential to offer services and connectivity on a massive scale. With speeds up to 100 times faster than 4G, he said 5G is projected to transform areas such as health, education, agriculture, and security, changing how Ghanaians live, work, and interact. The President emphasised the importance of 5G in achieving Ghana’s Digital Transformation Agenda. This agenda aims to create an inclusive digital ecosystem that fosters job creation, economic diversification, and competitiveness on a global scale. “We are at a crossroads where digital technology is no longer an option but an imperative,” he remarked, adding that 5G will complement existing national investments in digital infrastructure, national ID systems, and mobile interoperability.
