Econet Wireless to Expand 5G Network to Masvingo: Embracing Digital Transformation

Econet Wireless, a leading telecommunications company, has announced its plans to launch a 5G network in select areas of Masvingo next year. This move comes as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its high-speed network coverage throughout Zimbabwe. Kudzai Mauwa, the Regional General Manager of Econet in Masvingo, made this exciting announcement during his presentation at the Masvingo Business Expo, held at the Flamboyant, a Regency Group Hotel. Mauwa highlighted that Econet has already successfully rolled out 5G networks in major cities such as Harare, Victoria Falls, Gweru, and Bulawayo, with Masvingo being the next location on their list. Over its 25-year journey, Econet has witnessed significant technological advancements. It initially started with 2G technology, which provided basic telephone services and limited SMS capabilities. The company then transitioned to 3G technology, enabling data access for its users. Later, the launch of 4G, also known as Long Term Evolution (LTE), further enhanced the network’s capabilities.
