China Airlines selects IBS Software to spur its digital transformation

TAIWAN’S China Airlines has joined a substantial list of major international carriers which have jettisoned their outdated legacy freight management systems in favour of streamlining their global cargo operations with digital disruptor IBS Software’s single integrated iCargo platform, writes Thelma Etim . The move will enable the Taiwanese carrier to progress further with its ongoing digitalisation strategy, says a statement. Eddy Liu, senior vice-president of cargo at the airline, points out that China Airlines Cargo has been involved in an ongoing programme of modernising its digital capabilities for a number of years. “However, we have seen the [industry’s] evolutional change in digital sales and operations since COVID-19, and I believe software-as-a-service (SaaS) is the right solution we are looking for,” he underscores. “We expect to build up a strong partnership with IBS Software to realise faster time-to-market for our products and services without compromising compliance of data integrity,” Liu adds. The new single platform covers sales, import and export operations, air mail handling, revenue accounting, rating and manifesting and also provides automated digital technology “for maximum efficiency and opportunities for sales management,” the statement points out.
