Exploring the impact of GenAI on digital transformation today

Since the launch of ChatGPT in particular, terms that were reserved for technical specialists such as generative AI and LLMs have become mainstream. However, that explosion of conversation and a scramble to incorporate AI tools into business workflows or find a valid way to describe an organization’s solution as ‘AI-powered’ in marketing copy has led many to the question of the moment. Are the applications of AI, and in particular generative AI, being over-hyped? Journalists, analysts, and buyers alike are becoming fatigued by the constant nod to the emerging technology and are asking questions about whether AI can actually solve complex business challenges outside of the sandbox, today. Andie Dovgan Chief Growth Officer at Creatio. The rise and limitations of SaaS To answer this, it’s useful to look at the recent evolution of digital transformation in businesses. The development of cloud computing has led to increased integration of software to drive transformation, leading to a surge of applications and services and the rise of SaaS. Building a digital future for settlement services

Building a digital future for settlement services

Credit: Parm Sandhu, CIO, ISSofBC Over the past 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of working across a wide range of sectors — non-profit, public and private. This journey has taken me through various executive roles in large regional, national and multinational organizations, where I’ve led cross-functional teams in technology, sales and business operations. These experiences have not only shaped my professional expertise but also deepened my commitment to leveraging technology to bridge gaps and make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Immigrating to Canada illuminated the often-overlooked challenges that newcomers face when trying to access essential services and programs, especially in a landscape where modern technology is not universally accessible. This journey made me acutely aware of the barriers that can stand in the way of successful settlement — barriers that are compounded when digital tools and resources are lacking or unfamiliar. The experience underscored the critical need for innovative solutions that bridge the gap between newcomers and the support systems designed to help them. It became clear to me that without modern, accessible technology, many are left struggling to navigate complex systems, missing out on vital services that could significantly enhance their integration and well-being. The Transformation of Digital Transformation: Hint, It’s Not What It Used to Be

The Transformation of Digital Transformation: Hint, It’s Not What It Used to Be

The Transformation of Digital Transformation: Hint, It’s Not What It Used to Be Written by Rich Ord Sunday, August 25, 2024 In the early 2000s, digital transformation was heralded as the future of business, a necessary evolution for companies eager to modernize, compete, and thrive in an increasingly digital world. Fast forward two decades, and the narrative has shifted dramatically. What was once seen as the ultimate business strategy is now being re-evaluated in light of new technological advancements, particularly the rise of generative AI. This shift marks a significant turning point in how businesses approach digital transformation, revealing that the concept, as we once knew it, is no longer sufficient. Today, it’s not just about digitizing operations—it’s about rethinking the very essence of business models to adapt and lead in a rapidly changing environment. The Rise and Fall of Traditional Digital Transformation The concept of digital transformation gained widespread traction after 2011 when Capgemini, in collaboration with MIT, defined it as “the use of technology to radically improve performance or reach of businesses.” This definition catalyzed a wave of digital initiatives across industries, as companies scrambled to adopt new technologies like cloud computing, big data, and social media […]
