Today is hump day, but any tuned-in market watcher will be ignoring camels and monitoring cars on this Wednesday. I’m senior reporter Phil Rosen, here to ring in a pivotal Tesla earnings report with you this morning. While Elon Musk faces lawsuits in San Francisco for his infamous "funding secured" tweet, his net worth has skyrocketed nearly $11 billion this week. Download Insider’s app here. Elon Musk 1. Everyone knows Tesla took a bludgeoning in 2022. But amid the bearishness (not to mention distractions from Twitter), Elon Musk’s car maker is still a favorite on Wall Street. FactSet data shows that 64% of analysts give Tesla stock a "buy" or "overweight" rating. That’s the highest proportion since 2014. The median target price estimate for Tesla is $194 — which represents roughly a 25% upside from current levels. For Wedbush’s Dan Ives, today marks one of the most important moments in Tesla’s history. The stock has plenty of upside for 2023 , but Ives believes […]

Germany expected to avoid recession – govt economic report GDP could shrink slightly in Q1 – Ifo economist BERLIN, Jan 25 (Reuters) – German business morale brightened in January as Europe’s largest economy started the new year with easing inflation and an improved outlook, a survey said on Wednesday. The Ifo institute said its business climate index rose to 90.2, in line with consensus according to a Reuters poll of analysts and up from a reading of 88.6 in December. "The German economy is starting the new year with more confidence," Ifo’s president Clemens Fuest said. The increase is driven by considerably less pessimistic expectations, while companies were, however, somewhat less satisfied with their current situation, Ifo said. "There probably won’t be a recession, but GDP could shrink slightly in the first quarter," Ifo’s economist Klaus Wohlrabe said. Franziska Palmas, senior Europe economist at Capital Economics noted that present conditions remained challenging. "The fall in its current conditions index is a reminder that the economy is not out of the woods yet." The euro zone largest economy is expected to narrowly avoid recession this year with price-adjusted growth […]

Dealing With The Changing Business Cycle As A Product Leader

Everyone in the organization is going to feel more uncertain about business prospects than previously. Over the past 10 years, the challenge has been hiring […]

Textron posts quarterly revenue beat on strong business jet demand

Cessna employee Dwight Bennett works inside of a jet during a tour of the Cessna business jet assembly line at their manufacturing plant in Wichita, Kansas August 14, 2012. REUTERS/Jeff Tuttle Jan 25 (Reuters) – Cessna jet maker Textron Inc (TXT.N) reported a better-than-expected revenue on Wednesday, as a pandemic-driven demand for private jets shows little signs of cooling. The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic drove up demand for private plane travel from the ultra rich, boosting results at business jet makers in North America. Textron reported a fourth-quarter revenue of $3.64 billion, compared with analysts’ average estimate of $3.61 billion, as per Refinitiv data. Revenue at Textron Aviation, the company’s biggest unit, came in at $1.6 billion in the quarter ended Dec. 31, up $223 million, on higher prices and sales volume. The business jet maker also forecast an adjusted profit per share of $5 to $5.20 for 2023. Analysts expect a profit of $4.51 apiece. It was not immediately clear if the figures were comparable. Textron forecast a 2023 revenue of about $14.0 billion, up from $12.9 billion in the year-ago period.

5 Ways To Maximize Your Business Growth

5 Ways To Maximize Your Business Growth

getty As a business development leader, you constantly seek ways to grow and scale your business. Exponential growth may seem like an elusive goal, but with the right strategies in place, it is achievable. In this article, I will break down five steps you can take to maximize your business growth. 1. Identify your target market. Knowing exactly who you are targeting is the first step toward scaling your business. This means understanding the needs, wants and pain points of your target market and tailoring your products or services to meet their specific needs. By focusing on a specific market segment, you can come to an understanding of their needs which enables you to create a value proposition that resonates with them. In the early 2000s, I founded a small boutique law firm with the aim of serving owners of medium- to large-sized businesses seeking legal services to protect their organizations. Through market research and client discussions, the firm focused on helping our clients develop a tailored value proposition that could help them navigate the legal landscape and grow their businesses. I came to recognize how important it was to identify and resonate uniquely with a target market. This […]

Three Ways HR Can Enable Business Growth

Three Ways HR Can Enable Business Growth

getty Since I started working in HR, the way HR is viewed by the business community has changed for the better. The growth of our role as business partners means the department is less often seen as the "department of no" (that accolade is now held by security it seems). It has been exciting for me to see this transformation, but I feel businesses could still be getting more value from their HR teams, which in many places are underutilized when it comes to business growth. In a period of growth, especially after a funding round, there is often a large increase in hiring. And while HR is often responsible for those hiring processes, I have seen that many times other aspects of HR take a back seat. Increasing headcount can be made significantly harder if the company has to replace employees at the same time as it adds new ones. This also makes recruitment harder, as well as onboarding, training and team formation. In these instances, HR professionals can be tasked with the multifaceted goal of retention as much as they are charged with hiring. Here are three ways HR can enable business growth by going beyond its […]

Tobias Schwarz | Afp | Getty Images German business sentiment improved in January, according to a widely watched survey from the Munich-based Ifo Institute — in a prospective sign that Europe’s largest economy could swerve a recession. Ifo’s Business Climate Index rose to 90.2 points from 88.6 points previously on “considerably less pessimistic expectations,” a release said. This still left the index below its 2021 and early 2022 level. Companies reported overall lower satisfaction with their current situation. This was offset by a better sentiment on trade and by signals of present satisfaction and future optimism from manufacturing firms. “The expectation was that there might be a recession in the fourth quarter of ’22 and the first quarter of ’23. Now it looks like the […]
