Brooke Bishop has announced her intention to seek the Republican nomination for Muncy Borough Council, according to a news release. Bishop, born and raised in central Pennsylvania, returned to Muncy in spring 2020 after living in Charleston, South Carolina for 10 years. She and her husband, Greg Stine, own and operate Basil Wood Fired Kitchen and Lounge, and Bishop is the president of Downtown Muncy Inc., a non-profit organized to revitalize Muncy. Bishop is a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School and Penn State University. Bishop, her husband, their young daughter, two small dogs, and rescue cat reside in Muncy Borough. Bishop, the news release said, has hopes of revitalizing Downtown Muncy and uniting all of 17756 by focusing on flood control, restoration of historic architecture, helping existing businesses thrive and new businesses arrive. “She has strong family values and would like to increase our community assets by more outdoor recreation, community events and increasing the number of locals to stay in the area or return as she did,” the news release said. “A seat on the Muncy Borough Council will maximize her current efforts to improve Muncy for residents, businesses and visitors.”
