Open source solution provider Red Hat and Cloud major Oracle on Tuesday announced a multi-stage alliance to offer customers a greater choice of operating systems to run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The organisations will now be able to standardise their cloud operations with Red Hat Enterprise Linux running on OCI, which enables customers to gain a common platform that stretches from their datacenter to the OCI distributed cloud. "Customers can also easily plan to migrate existing workloads which are currently on Red Hat Enterprise Linux to OCI without many changes in the stack. This collaboration will allow companies to accelerate their digital transformation efforts in a much smoother way," said P. Saravanan, Vice President, Cloud Engineering, Oracle India. Customers can also contact both Red Hat and Oracle support to help resolve potential issues, with an expanded transparent, joint support agreement. Red Hat Enterprise Linux forms the backbone of Red Hat’s hybrid cloud technology portfolio, which includes Red Hat OpenShift. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is now certified on OCI’s flexible virtual machines that offer from one up to 80 CPU cores in single CPU increments, and from 1GB memory per CPU up to a total of 1024 GB, depending […]

Digital Transformation: Gaining a Competitive Edge through Technology

Digital Transformation: Gaining a Competitive Edge through Technology

Organizations start using the cloud to execute multiple tasks within their organizations. Fremont, CA: Utilizing big data, data analytics, and the cloud can benefit your organization by ensuring that you develop a data strategy that captures data across the value chain. As a result, you realize that organizations from various value chains are gathering a lot of data. All the way from marketing to operations to processes to after-sales. Consequently, this has been transfused into even more and more industries, such as mining, where, for example, a local mining company is using big data analytics to accurately predict when their machines will need maintenance. The phenomenon of Big Data has resulted in organizations having a large amount of data at their disposal that can be used for solving large business problems. Cloud computing The cloud is another technology that organizations have leveraged to improve their organization in the last five to ten years. It’s like having a supercomputer stored somewhere else, which your computer connects to, to perform tasks. You can now no longer be limited by the hardware limitations of your organization in terms of how much data can be processed, how many tasks can be executed, and […]

Digital transformation – from mainframes to the ‘deeply digital’ organisation

Digital transformation – from mainframes to the ‘deeply digital’ organisation

The next generation of successful organisations will be the ones that embrace the potential of digital transformation, or so it has been said with increasing frequency in the last decade. But is the term as useful in understanding the future of organisations as its advocates claim? While some see digital transformation as a trend that has existed since the 1950s, an alternative view is that today’s digitalisation is a distinct phase because it describes the way technology and data now define rather than merely support operations. Digital transformation, then, is a term that reflects the new operational reality for every organisation. Interest in digital transformation has also merged with the need to rebuild organisations after a period of disruption caused by the pandemic, supply chain and employee shortages, and economic uncertainty. However, these problems have also encouraged new thinking and problem solving. Organisations want to invest but without repeating past operational missteps. Nevertheless, what remains up for debate is how organisations should harness the idea of digital transformation to make such change possible. Clearly, while every organisation is digital to a greater or lesser degree, not every organisation today is using advances in digital technology as effectively. How do […]

Upskilling needed for digital transformation

Upskilling needed for digital transformation

The digital transformation journey has begun, but Cyprus needs more skilled tech professionals to see it through, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Digital Policy Kyriacos Kokkinos said. “The greatest weakness of Cyprus is in human capital; that is to say, we do not have enough specialised professionals in the field. “This challenge must be seen positively as a career opportunity for our young people who want to enter this field”. On the lack of human capital in technology, he said that based on European indicators, the country is below the European average “by a lot”. “While 3.9% of European university graduates are active in the sciences field, in Cyprus, the percentage is 2.7%.” Kokkinos was reviewing the work of his ministry as the government’s term was ending. He referred to the launch of the government portal www.gov.cy as a single point of contact for Cypriots with the public sector and implementing a fully digital management system during the pandemic. “We are building the Gigabit society…we have supported the expansion and development of the Research and Innovation ecosystem. “We put the citizen at the heart of the matter since we collaborate in designing the websites with citizens who are potential […]

Streaming Boom Accelerates Digital Transformation Of Network Operators

Streaming Boom Accelerates Digital Transformation Of Network Operators

getty The media and telecommunications sectors are experiencing massive disruptions. During the pandemic, consumers streamed entertainment at unprecedented volumes and subscribed to new video services by the millions. Demand for next-generation over-the-top (OTT) video delivery services continues to increase worldwide. We expect global video operators to continuously adapt their delivery infrastructure to meet surging streaming demand over the next two decades. In the first quarter of 2022, consumer spending on streaming video subscriptions rose nearly 17% to a record $6.9 billion, up from $5.9 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Not only did overall media consumption pick up in the first quarter, but media and entertainment companies continue to develop binge-worthy content, creating more than 550 scripted shows last year, up more than 200 since 2013. Given the traditional complexity of video delivery and the rapid rise of streaming services, it is no surprise that video is at the leading edge of today’s largest digital transformation opportunity. In just three years, Disney+ successfully signed up more than 137 million subscribers . Combined, Disney’s trio of streaming services—which includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+—now reaches 205.6 million subscribers globally. While demand is booming for streaming services, there are many global […]

The world’s top brands using Aware’s Contextual Intelligence Platform and Context API unify disconnected operational data from enterprise workflows, communication platforms, cloud data platforms and customer journeys for a single pane of glass into the business. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Aware , the leader in contextual intelligence, today unveiled the industry’s first Context API providing developers with access to the platform’s rich strategic, organizational and risk intelligence to transform the employee and customer experience. A recent IDC report indicated that 85% of organizations that take actions to improve employee experience and increase employee engagement deliver a better customer experience, higher customer satisfaction, and higher revenues. But legacy systems lack an intelligent data fabric to understand "context at scale", a necessity for streamlining real-time decisions. Compounding the problem is the proliferation of hybrid work environments which has resulted in an exponential growth of unstructured data sets that existing systems simply can’t manage. Today, companies operating without connectivity, context and certainty lack the ability to answer the "why" when facing real-time decisions impacting the employee experience. "Delivering the perfect customer experience is viewed as the holy grail to accelerate top-line growth. An exceptional customer experience begins with the […]
