Enabling digital transformation
Digital technologies in Pakistan could create up to Rs9.7 trillion ($59.7 billion) in economic value by 2030, if they are fully leveraged. This is equivalent to about 19 per cent of the country’s GDP in 2020. ‘Digital Lives Decoded 2022’, a study conducted by Telenor Asia, found that 54 per cent of Pakistanis believe mobile devices and mobile technology have significantly improved their careers and aided in developing their skills, with women reporting that their mobile devices have significantly improved their quality of life. Mobile phones are also widely seen as a way of generating income. Nearly half of the people surveyed in the study feel mobile usage provided work and income opportunities that were unavailable before the pandemic. In Pakistan, 38 per cent of the respondents believe mobile access has created new opportunities for them. Our research points to mobile connectivity being an enabler of productivity, progress, economic opportunity, and flexibility. Enabling people to connect to what matters most to them, accessibility to information, increasing productivity and an easy and safe way to manage their finances, are just a few of the many advantages of an increasingly digitized world. However, privacy and security have become serious concerns in […]
OneSpan Notary accelerates digital transformation for notarization
OneSpan announced the launch of OneSpan Notary, a next-generation, all-in-one, cloud-connected solution that enables organizations to transform the way notaries and customers complete agreements and notarize documents in a secure and trusted environment. OneSpan Notary was co-designed in collaboration with commissioned notaries across industries to ensure security and help achieve compliance with a streamlined user experience. This innovative solution provides a new level of flexibility, making it refreshingly easy for notaries and signers to transition from a cumbersome paper process to complete and trusted end-to-end notarization in the cloud. With the pandemic accelerating the need for digital business transactions, organizations are seeking more streamlined alternatives for digital and remote document notarization. In the U.S., over a billion documents are notarized annually. Everyday events, such as buying a house, creating an affidavit, or transferring a car title––may all require notarization, creating additional friction in the process. Also, identity theft and fraud continue to rise significantly––scammers target high-value transactions, such as property transfers, mortgages, estate documents, and powers of attorney. Dozens of U.S. state legislatures used the pandemic to pass bills legally allowing for digital or remote online notarization (RON). To date, more than 40 U.S. states have passed legislation for […]

Digital transformation- The future of a sustainable industry
Tinku Malayil Jose India has been on the journey of emerging as the world’s manufacturing hub, and technological innovations have only acted as a catalyst for this evolution. The Industry 4.0 revolution, aided by connectivity, played a critical role in increasing the efficiency in productivity, effectiveness, and quality of offerings by businesses across the spectrum. With the introduction of 5G, this will further accelerate. The companies that adopted the principles of Industry 4.0 accelerated their digital transformation to make their business processes more efficient, accurate, reliable, and predictable. However, with Industry 5.0 fast catching up today, it is more than just about efficiency in manufacturing. The next chapter of the great industrial revolution will progressively focus on human-centricity, resilience, and sustainability. It will increasingly deal with human-robot collaboration, cognitive systems, and customization in terms of personalization or hyper-personalization. The new wave of these technical innovations will elevate the overall user experience with sustainability as its core. To align with these paradigm shifts, it will become imperative for companies to adapt their corporate culture and change their ways of thinking. They must thoroughly review their current operations to re-evaluate their organizational structures and more extensive business plans. The new wave […]

Modernise or “find yourself on the wrong side of the digital divide”, urges expert
Businesses with legacy tech, particularly in their data tiers, must modernise as a matter of urgency or risk being “completely upended”, according to an industry expert. Organisations that are over a decade old are more likely to run on older technology stacks that may require modernising. Ravi Mayuram, CTO at Couchbase, spoke to IT Pro on the IT Pro Podcast to discuss the issues facing companies with extensive legacy tech. He warned against taking the easy route through digital transformation. Organisations have a tendency to prioritise updating customer-facing systems such as their user interfaces (UI) and application logic tiers, but they should instead focus on the data tier as a matter of urgency. “The place you had delayed the most to make changes is in your data tier, because that’s the toughest and that’s your foundation, right? That’s the one you didn’t want to move all this while because it delayed it as much as possible, because you could get away with it,” said Mayuram. “Now you can’t, you have to realise that, that the more you sort of stick with legacy systems, the more obsolescence and the cost of it. And it’s not just the bottom line, it’s […]
3 Steps For A People-First Approach To Unlock Digital Transformation And Growth In 2023
getty The new year has marked a fresh slate for many businesses, motivating organizations to begin anew with clean performance records. The most forward-looking leaders, however, realize a more significant opportunity to examine their organization’s identity, its customer experience model and the key barriers that stand in the way of future business growth. The pressure for continued business advancement has been building for years. Companies must reassess their corporate strategies and prepare for what’s on the horizon: an era of heightened connectivity, greater stakeholder expectations, unprecedented automation and a demand for an unparalleled customer experience. The pandemic has driven people to redefine their expectations of experiences, placing greater value on human connection and self-enrichment. While businesses are forced to navigate the uncontrollable and never-ending cycle of change in the form of current events, economic uncertainties and technological innovation, leaders can (and should ) take a people-first approach to business optimization, focused on unlocking the full power of the client experience. Here are three actionable steps leaders can take to reenergize their people, transform their customer experience delivery and set the scene for growth in 2023 and beyond. 1. How To Integrate Direct Sourcing Into Your Company’s Digital Transformation
getty We live in an increasingly digital, virtual world. Companies that cannot keep up will lose revenue and market share, no matter their industry. That’s why the phrase “digital transformation” has been at the forefront of many executive decision-makers’ minds when it comes to operational planning, particularly in nontechnology-oriented business sectors. “How do we digitize?” “How do we evolve our business using technology?” “How do we do all this strategically and efficiently?” Digital transformation can help recession-proof your business and provide major efficiencies for you and your consumers. And at the core of all digital transformation is the talent to provide the outcomes. You need the talent that will help you achieve your goals, from ideation and implementation to continued technical support. Making smart IT contract hires when you need them, from the very beginning of your digital transformation, is the key to success. If you have ready-to-go contractors with specific skills, it can be an added benefit to the prioritization of overall progress. However, it’s often hard to know if you’re taking the right approach to find the right people. That is why direct sourcing should be a part of a company’s hiring toolbox when considering a digital […]
Governance in the digital age
Effective corporate governance is the core of long-term, sustainable company growth. However, corporate governance requirements are becoming increasingly burdensome, with regulators worldwide placing greater emphasis on the impact businesses have on their employees, customers, and suppliers as opposed to focusing solely on shareholders. Despite the importance of corporate governance, most companies rely on outdated processes to manage their operations. Relying on outdated methods and processes to govern the organization can lead to operational setbacks, abuses of power, and messy disclosures. Digital transformation should include a corporate governance transformation to minimize risks; by implementing the right technology solutions, relevant policies and procedures that can be rapidly embedded and continuously monitored, allowing organizations to identify and address any corporate governance deficiencies quickly. What is corporate governance, and what are its benefits? The aim of corporate governance is effective leadership. The board of Directors carries this objective out by creating processes, systems, and controls to encourage appropriate behaviors that ensure the organization’s sustainability. Benefits of governance Improved corporate governance can significantly boost productivity and growth and reduce costs. The benefits of governance include: Improved decision-making: There is an undeniable link between an organization’s governance and its ability to make better decisions associated […]
