CNN — Elon Musk on Tuesday offered an optimistic picture for how Twitter can improve the advertising business he helped derail and boost its bottom line while also admitting that keeping the social network running is proving to be a challenge after multiple rounds of layoffs. In remarks at a Morgan Stanley Conference, Musk laid out his vision to boost Twitter’s core advertising business by adopting the standard strategy of most of the company’s peers: improving the relevance of the ads it serves. “The advertising relevance is the most gigantic thing,” Musk said. “And this is going to sound totally bizarre, but Twitter did not consider relevance in advertising until three months ago.” With that change, and larger cost cuts across the organization, Musk said he believes Twitter has “got a shot at being cash flow positive next quarter.” “Going forward, Twitter will have very relevant, useful advertising,” Musk said. “And because it is useful, because it is relevant, there will be a massive increase in revenue, because it is now useful. So I’m very optimistic about the future. It’s been a very difficult four months, but I’m optimistic about the future.” Elon Musk publicly mocks Twitter worker with […]
Possible bill could make business court disputes easier
WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Texas lawmakers are working to make business disputes easier for companies and lawyers. Governor Greg Abbott introduced a bill that would allow the state to have its own business court system, which are trial courts that hear business disputes. Business attorneys said solving disputes out of state can get expensive because of living costs and businesses being placed on hold. They say if this law passes, judges, lawyers, and businesses owners can benefit from it. Unlike many other states, Texas does not have its own business court system despite previous attempts in previous legislative sessions to establish one. “I never had a business owner that I represent be excited to go into litigation. It’s stressful, it’s expensive, it takes years in some cases,” said business attorney of Blanchard & Thomas, LLP John Morkovsky. House Bill 19 would create an exclusive business court system to solve disputes within Texas, instead of taking legal action elsewhere.”A complex business case can take anywhere from several, several months to several, several years. And hundreds of thousands, if not million dollars in fees,” said Morkovsky. Morkovsky said without a state business court system, clients would have to pause their organization […]

The Business Case for Women’s Climate Leadership
Elevating more women to the top ranks of companies is not just about equality; it is about performance. Women’s leadership and entrepreneurship plays a critical role in driving economic growth and creating jobs with positive social, environmental, and climate spillovers. LUXEMBOURG – How can we meet the world’s climate goals? We can start by putting more women in charge. That will give us a much better chance of not only controlling global warming but also achieving greater prosperity along the way. Emerging research underscores the business and development case for applying a gender lens to climate-related investments. It also highlights the critical role women play in climate leadership. A recent report from the European Investment Fund shows that women-led firms have higher environmental, social, and governance (ESG) scores than other companies, and that businesses with greater representation of women in leadership positions have better track records of adopting environmentally friendly practices. Similarly, women leaders are more likely to invest in renewable energy, leading to reduced greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions and improved environmental outcomes, and women-owned businesses are more likely to pursue greater energy efficiency and practices such as recycling. Banks run by women lend less to big polluters. To continue […]

Local business honors farmers with pancakes
White’s Farm Supply in Lowville serves up pancakes — and more — to show appreciation for their customers.(WWNY) LOWVILLE, New York (WWNY) – White’s Farm Supply in Lowville is packed, but it’s not for preseason purchases. It’s for the annual Customer Appreciation Day. “It’s something my grandparents started as a tradition in 1952,” owner Jeff White said, “and during the COVID years, we haven’t done it, so we’re happy to do it and appreciate our farming community.” Every year, hundreds of farmers and their families take a load off before the hustle-bustle of spring planting begins. “It’s something that brings the community together,” White said. “All the farmers and people in surrounding towns come together, so it’s nice for everybody. Thousands of free meals have been served up hot on the original grills. “The grills, actually, my grandparents bought in 1952, cast iron, still in service.” And the ingredients — of course — are all local. “We use local syrup, we use local milk, we have sauerkraut that’s local, the pancake mix is all upstate New York products. Feeding those who feed the rest of us, a thank-you to our farmers. Copyright 2023 WWNY. All rights reserved.
