ONE Record: Driving Digital Transformation in the Air Cargo Industry
Globalized supply chains and an increase in global demand for goods have drastically increased the importance of the air cargo industry . Today, airlines transport more than 62 million tons of cargo —approximately $8.3 trillion worth of goods—per year. Unfortunately, this increased demand for air cargo has exposed problems within the industry, including a lack of transparency and data sharing among airlines and the organizations that task them with transporting their goods. This has sparked the industry’s move towards digital transformation and the adoption of new technologies that can deliver increased visibility within the end-to-end transportation chain. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is leading this charge . It has introduced ONE Record, a standard for data sharing that creates single-record views of shipments while increasing visibility and data sharing among stakeholders. In fact, this week, the IATA, Turkish Cargo, and Turkish Technology are hosting the second of two annual hackathons designed to encourage the development of innovative new cargo products that incorporate the ONE Record data sharing standard. Participants are encouraged to solve cargo industry challenges using ONE Record APIs. We sat down with Henk Mulder, the head of digital cargo at IATA, to learn more about this […]

Digital Transformation 2024 Summit | Just Two Weeks to Go!
Digital Transformation Summit 2024 We are now just two weeks away from the Digital Transformation (DT) 2024 Summit , held on Thursday 24th October at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. DT2024 will contextualise the key technology trends and industry disruption amidst a backdrop of significant socio-economic upheaval. The rapid pace of the digital world has necessitated a fundamental shift in mindset.
