Lee Jones, Chief Product Officer for Gozio Health There has never been more pressure for health systems to invest in digital transformation, especially when it comes to strengthening the consumer experience, according to a recent Deloitte survey . Key findings from the research suggest that existing digital offerings available through health systems are not adequately meeting consumers’ needs. For instance, Deloitte found that while health systems do a good job of meeting consumers’ access and care needs “within the walls,” their efforts tend to fall short when it comes to meeting consumers’ preventive care and well-being needs (“before the walls”) and continued care needs (“beyond the walls”). Recognizing this shortfall is important as health system leaders consider how best to position their digital strategy to meet evolving consumer expectations. Poorly designed technology deployments that have landed in the IT graveyard due to lackluster performance and low adoption rates offer plenty of lessons learned—and cause for trepidation. Ultimately, health system executives must ask: “Can we afford to go it alone?” High Stakes for Digital Minimizing risk with health IT investments is critical as the healthcare C-suite looks at an ever-dwindling pool of dollars. And digital matters: 65% of patients are […]
CISOs unpack API security strategy to secure digital transformation efforts
APIs truly make the digital world go round. They are the backbone of digital transformation for both digital native and traditional businesses. But this also makes them a prime target for security threats. From API sprawl to Shadow APIs, the challenges are many. And strategies like Open authentication, Zero Trust models, rate limiting, etc. too are discussed widely. But what’s the blueprint of a CISOs strategy to secure APIs? The scale at which Paytm operates and the massive number of transactions processed daily, API sprawl and Shadow APIs can pose significant risks. How does Amit Malhotra, CISO, Paytm Group address this challenge, especially when managing third-party integrations and microservices architectures? Malhotra says, “APIs interact and can communicate sensitive information too- can be financial transactions, personal info too. It’s imperative as a security officer to protect these APIs. We should have an integrated approach of managing both API security and application security together- where we take help from DevSecOps . If you perform all security testing properly, I believe the vulnerabilities that can be exploited through API exploitation cannot happen.” “API sprawl means you have a certain explosion and are not able to manage properly. API sprawl happens due to […]

However, 80% agree that complexity has grown. If businesses are to modernize, they must first find a way to solve the complexity problem. The solutions C1 unveiled address networking, security and communications. The company says it has integrated the solutions to streamline operations, improve business resilience and simplify customer deployment. The new C1 solutions include: Communications RingCentral RingEX and RingCentral CX, both powered by C1CX: RingCentral EX is one of the leading unified communications platforms, and CX is its contact center solution. Malaysia’s MyDigital ID hits 1M users as digital transformation gains momentum
The Malaysian government’s digital verification platform, MyDigital ID, has now registered over one million users, another milestone recorded in the country’s digital transformation efforts, after celebrating half a million registrations in July this year . CEO Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor hails the milestone as a testament to Malaysia’s readiness for digital innovation and expresses gratitude to users for their trust in the system, Bernama reports . The increase in registrations followed an announcement that MyDigital ID would be required to access the MyJPJ app , which stores digital driving licenses and road tax information. The announcement likely prompted a rush of Malaysians to sign up for the platform, overwhelming the system and causing technical difficulties in the registration process. As a result, Transport Minister Anthony Loke reversed the decision to make MyDigital ID mandatory for accessing the app. While the latest MyJPJ update allows users to log in using MyDigital ID, it is now an optional feature rather than a requirement. Despite surpassing one million users, MyDigital ID is still far from the government’s target of 10 million users by the first quarter of 2024, a projection highlighted by Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Free Malaysia Today reports . The Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) has unveiled ambitious plans to bolster Vietnam’s digital infrastructure and connectivity. The company aims to build 24 data centers with a combined capacity of 560 megawatts and lay four new undersea fiber optic cable routes. Additionally, the group has achieved 4G coverage for 95% of the population, surpassing its target for the nationwide shutdown of 2G services. Viettel’s investment in undersea fiber optic cables, including the Asia Direct Cable (ADC), will play a crucial role in expanding Vietnam’s international connectivity. The ADC, scheduled to go live in early 2025, will contribute over 50% of the country’s total international capacity. In terms of data infrastructure, Viettel operates […]
Strengthening SMEs competitiveness and performance via industrial internet: Technological, organizational, and environmental pathways
Article Open access Mengjia Gao & Hao Zhang Humanities and Social Sciences Communications 11 , Article number: 1366 (2024) Cite this article Metrics Abstract The industrial internet acts as a crucial accelerator for driving enterprise digital transformation and plays a vital role in enhancing performance and competitiveness. However, our understanding of how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) leverage the industrial internet to improve their performance and competitiveness remains limited. This study developed a “Digital transformation paths chain” framework to shed light on the key factors that drive SMEs to adopt the industrial internet and its influence on performance and competitiveness. Data from 314 Chinese SMEs were collected and analyzed using fsQCA and PLS-SEM to examine this model. Our findings highlight the positive impact of industrial internet adoption on enterprise performance and competitive advantage. The results highlight that technology, organization, and environment (TOE) drive industrial internet adoption. Industrial internet adoption positively impacts enterprise performance and competitive advantage through integration, application, and drive. This study offers valuable insights for businesses, policymakers, and other stakeholders engaged in digital transformation initiatives through the industrial internet. State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company’s ‘Autonomous Microgrid’ Speeds up Digital Transformation of Distribution Network
Photo: Courtesy of State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company On October 8, Zhou Maoxin, zone manager of the SCO Demonstration Area power supply office under the State Grid Qingdao Power Supply Company, inspected the pilot-built SCO “Autonomous Microgrid” to ensure its stable operation. This digital and intelligent “Autonomous Microgrid” has created a replicable and scalable model for building a secure, controllable, smart and user-friendly new power system, Zhou said. Using AC/DC flexible interconnection technology, the SCO “Autonomous Microgrid” connects a 200 kVA power supply office zone and a 630 kVA public charging station zone within the SCO Demonstration Area. Given the differences in load characteristics between these zones, which include distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems, charging piles, and energy storage devices, a three-tier management structure has been established. This structure includes strategy customization, coordinated control, and local execution, enabling three key functions: mutual power supply between zones, collaborative operation of “main, distribution, and micro” grids, and sub-second power restoration. When an overload occurs in the interconnected zones of the SCO “Autonomous Microgrid,” an alarm threshold is triggered, switching to the AC/DC hybrid interconnection mode. Surplus capacity from adjacent zones is smoothly transferred, achieving dynamic load balancing and avoiding peak overloads. […]
