A diverse and inclusive workforce is essential for digital transformation

People are an organization’s greatest asset. This is even more the case as we begin to onboard advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence in workplaces in India and elsewhere. Human creativity and judgement is essential for strategic decisions. AI can take over repetitive tasks and model multiple scenarios, but it cannot yet strategize or communicate effectively, nor does it bring empathy and understanding to the workplace. In fact, advanced technology will lead to long-term job growth, creating more jobs than it destroys. By 2025, although technology will replace 85 million roles in administrative and frontline functions such as data entry and customer service, it will create 97 million new jobs in areas like data analysis, digital marketing, internet of things and business development, according to World Economic Forum forecasts.
