+A -A Baghdad – INA Ali Al-Moayyed, Chairman of Communications and Media Commission-CMC, invited Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to visit Iraq in a move aimed at strengthening international cooperation and advancing Iraq’s digital transformation agenda. Al-Moayyed underscored the critical importance of the ITU’s strategic support in Iraq’s ongoing efforts to modernize its telecommunications infrastructure and align with global technological trends. According to a statement issued by CMC , received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the meeting between Al-Moayyed and Bogdan-Martin took place on the sidelines of Iraq’s participation in the Future Summit in New York. Discussions centered on Iraq’s institutional efforts in key areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cyber security, electronic payments, and banking sector reforms, all of which are essential to integrating with the global digital economy. A focal point of the dialogue was Iraq’s persistent digital divide and strategies to close this gap.
