General Electric’s Plan for Energy Profits Pushes the Stock Higher

Thursday: The conglomerate said its power business is on a long-term path to strong profitability. GE Vernova—the power business which includes grid, gas and wind power assets—has long been struggling. Last year, Vernova’s operating profit margins came in at about negative 3%. On Thursday, GE (ticker: GE) reiterated its 2023 financial guidance for both the overall company and its segments, including its forecast for Vernova to see a full-year operating loss between $600 million and $200 million.
